If you're an astronomy buff,  you can stargaze atop these wind-sculpted sand dunes, known as Kaluts in Iran.

Kaluts are formed as a result of desert wind erosion and are known in geography as yardangs. They are carved from bedrock or any consolidated or semi-consolidated material.

In the picture, you can catch how a Kalut in Kerman Province and the Milky Way create an incredible contrast.

In truth, Shahdad Kaluts are the world's most exquisite and alluring natural phenomenon seen in the Iranian desert.

The mythical Kaluts were reportedly formed some 20,000 years ago by water and wind erosion.
